A woman managed to escape from police custody while in handcuffs, putting a Rowlett neighborhood on high alert for nearly six hours.
Late Thursday, the woman found herself in a precarious situation. Handcuffed and wearing nothing but Christmas pajamas, she was desperately hiding from the Rowlett police.
We have gathered information that 22-year-old Quanesha Mason was responsible for triggering a lengthy search in a residential area close to Rowlett Road and Hickory Road.
According to the police, the incident began on Thursday afternoon when Mason was placed in handcuffs for his failure to provide identification.
In the Ring video footage captured from a home in the neighborhood, officers can be seen conversing in the front yard of a residence. Suddenly, Mason seizes the opportunity and makes a daring dash from behind a police cruiser, swiftly maneuvering between two neighboring houses.
The officers quickly realize that she has disappeared and immediately request additional support.
The officers combed through the neighborhood until approximately 8 p.m. on Thursday.
Mason was apprehended by the police shortly before midnight on Thursday, according to a Facebook post by the authorities.
Mason’s presence was captured on Floyd Smith’s Ring camera, according to reports.
“We are curious where she was headed,” Smith said. “You know, barefoot and cold. I think she had to be hiding somewhere in the neighborhood.”
After his arrest, Mason was initially held at the Rowlett city jail. However, he was later transferred to the Dallas County jail, where he was charged with escape from custody.
